Privacy Policy

86Proof is created by Brenstar Labs. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and what third-party services are involved.

Data We Collect

• Bar & bottle data. Your personal bar setup and bottle selections are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to any server unless you use the Shared Bars feature (see below).
• Product lookups. When you search or scan bottles, our servers log product IDs and UPC lookups to improve the product database. These logs are not linked to your identity.
• Anonymous usage statistics. We collect limited, non-personal data such as performance metrics and general usage patterns to improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you.

Shared Bars & Firebase

When you use the Shared Bars feature, the following applies:

• User identifier. Sign in with Apple assigns you an anonymous unique user ID. This ID is stored in Google Firebase to associate you with the bars you own or have joined. We do not receive your name or Apple ID email unless you choose to share it.
• Shared bar contents. Bar names, bottle lists, and member relationships for shared bars are stored in Google Firebase Firestore, a cloud database operated by Google.
• Cloud Functions. Certain actions (such as creating or joining a shared bar) are processed by Google Firebase Cloud Functions running on Google's servers.

Data stored in Firebase is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not share your data with any other third parties.

You can stop bar sharing and delete your Firebase account at any time from within the app: Settings → Sharing Sign In → Stop Bar Sharing. This immediately stops all shared bars you own and removes your account from Firebase.

Payment Processing

Any purchases are processed entirely through Apple's App Store. Brenstar Labs never receives or stores your payment information.

Data Usage

We use collected data solely to:

• Provide and improve core app functionality
• Maintain and expand the product database
• Enable the Shared Bars feature
• Diagnose technical issues

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Data Retention

Your local bar data persists until you delete the app or clear its data. Shared bar data in Firebase persists until you stop bar sharing via Settings → Sharing Sign In → Stop Bar Sharing, which removes your Firebase account and all associated data. Aggregate and anonymized statistics are retained only as long as needed for app improvements.

Business Changes

If Brenstar Labs is involved in a merger or acquisition, user-generated content and anonymized statistics may transfer to the acquiring entity, which would be required to honor this policy.
