86Proof is developed by Brenstar Labs (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your information. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights regarding that information.

1. Information We Collect

• Local App Data: Your bar setups, bottle selections, wishlist entries, and app preferences are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account through Apple’s CloudKit service. This information is fully controlled by you and is never transmitted to our servers unless explicitly required for a specific API action (such as requesting product metadata for a bottle you scan).
• Anonymous Analytics: We may collect limited, non-personal data such as crash logs, performance metrics, and general usage statistics. This information helps us improve app reliability and user experience. No personally identifiable information (PII) is collected.
• API & Lookup Data: When you search for or scan bottles, our servers may log non-personal information such as product IDs, UPC lookups, and category-level trends. This data is used to enhance the accuracy and quality of our product database.
• Aggregated Data: We may generate and use aggregated, anonymized statistics (for example: overall bottle popularity, category trends, or general usage patterns). This data does not identify individual users and may be shared with third parties for analytics or market insights.
• Payments: All purchases and subscriptions are processed securely by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store any payment information.

2. How We Use Information

We use collected information solely to:

• Provide core app functionality
• Improve database accuracy and performance
• Enhance user experience and product features
• Diagnose crashes or technical issues

We do not sell personal information because we do not collect personal information. Only anonymized, aggregated data may be used or shared.

3. Data Storage & Retention

Your bar and bottle data remain on your device and/or iCloud account until you delete them. We retain aggregate or performance data only as long as necessary to improve the app.

4. Business Transfers

If Brenstar Labs or 86Proof is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, user-generated content (such as bar setups or bottle lists) and anonymized usage statistics may be transferred as part of that transaction. No personal information will be transferred, because none is collected. Any acquiring entity would be required to honor this Privacy Policy or provide notice before making material changes.
